The price rules tool allows you to enter special price rules for product categories by utilising order options such as price, quantity, and buyer. The price rules tool supports a variety of rules and types, including standard, individual markup and discount. Follow these steps to set up price rules:

  1. Navigate to 'Pricing', then 'Price rules'
  2. Click the 'Create' button
  3. Enter the name of the price rule
  4. Choose the 'Fee type' and conditions for which this price rule will apply, such as price intervals or product conditions
  5. Select a price rule type from standard, individual markup, discount.*
  6. Set up the conditions and any other relevant settings
  7. If you need to add another condition, select '+ Add additional range and quantity'
  8. Enter validity in the 'Price type settings' tab
  9. Click the 'Save' button

Note: 'Fee type' function allows you to select between a percentage fee and a fixed price fee added to your markup.

*Standard is the most commonly used price rule type. It is the most straightforward method for applying a markup to all of the products in your online store.

Individual markups enable you to create markups for specific customers only. You must also enable the price type setting if you want to use it for a specific company (you can select more than one company). If the standard and this type are used, i.e. there are markups created with both and the priorities are to compare prices and apply the lower one, then these two types create a discount from the markups for the user

When you want to create a discount for a limited number of products or customers, use the Discount price rule type.

For any of the price rules, you have two choices: Apply the rule based on the price(s), interval(s), or condition of the product(s):

The Apply according to price(s) interval(s) function allows you to enter a product cost and markup range. You can specify multiple ranges and add as many as necessary.

The Apply according to product(s) condition(s) function allows you to add product conditions (category, attribute value, product variation, quantity, cost). Each price rule can have multiple conditions. There is also the option to use and/or functions for product conditions.

Make sure you use the Price rule priorities to ensure that all price rules are applied exactly as you desired.

After you've created the price rules you can always edit, add more information, change their state or delete them:

  1. Go to 'Price rules'
  2. Click on the price rule you want to edit
  3. Edit the price rule settings and then click the 'Save' or 'Delete' button to completely remove the rule

Price calculation

Price calculation is performed as a background process and prices are calculated for each product and each company separately. Therefore, if the created price rule includes a very large number of products and customers, then the price calculation may take some time and when you check them in the webshop, they will not be immediately visible updated. Price recalculation happen:

  1. After creating the item
  2. After updating an item's cost price, markup (on item), balance, attribute, or category
  3. When the order is placed and the product quantity changes
  4. After creating a catalog price rule
  5. After updating the catalog price rule
  6. After creating an individual price
  7. After deleting the individual price
  8. After creating the company
  9. When updating a company, when the application of price priorities is changed for it
  10. When the validity period of the price rule changes (beginning or ending)
  11. When the individual price rule expires (starts or ends)
  12. After creating the priority
  13. After updating the priority
