Price rule priorities

Setting price rule priorities comes in handy after you've established price rules or individual prices for all of your products. It enables you to set a product's cost to the final price (cost + markup + discounts). Follow these steps to configure the price rule priorities:

  1. Go to 'Price rule priorities'
  2. Click the 'Create' button
  3. Enter the name of a priority (for example Default)
  4. Click the '+ Add rule' in 'Catalog price' area
  5. Choose the price rule type and press the 'Add' button
  6. Click the 'Save' button

Because standard markup is the most important markup, we recommend starting with it to build the final price. Other price priorities rules, such as individual markup, discount, or individual price, can be added later.

You can still use a variety of other options to calculate the final price after you've set the price rule priority, such as enabling a lower markup if a price rule conflict occurs. When you enable 'Use lower markup when conflict occurs,' the system will use a lower markup from the available markups for the selected product that you enter in the various editing tools. To enable, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to 'Price rule priorities'
  2. Click on the name of a priority you want to enable/disable the use of a lower markup function
  3. Disable or enable the 'Use lower markup when conflict occurs option'
  4. Click the 'Save' button

After you've created the price rules priority you can always edit (for example add more rules) or delete them:

  1. Go to 'Price rule priorities'
  2. Click on the price rule priority you want to edit
  3. Edit the price rule priority settings and then click the 'Save' or 'Delete' button to completely remove the priority

NOTE: Arrange the price rule types in the order in which they should be considered. However, keep in mind that Swepio's price rule priority line is as follows: Cost (coming from a product section) (coming from a product section) - Standard Markup - Individual Markup - Discount - Individual price.

When you added Individual markup type rule in priority enable or disable Use lower markup when conflict occurs option. Here it also means that system will take a lower markup of products’ available individual markups you enter in different editing tools of selected product. After that choose comparison types and their selections. Here are four available choices:

Comparison types

Selections

Compare with individual markup

Use lower markup

Use higher markup

Do not compare

Use price and individual markup

Use individual markup from cost

  1. Compare with individual markup + Use lower markup = system compare price among Standard markup and Individual markup and uses lower markup.
  2. Compare with individual markup + Use higher markup = system compare price among Standard markup and Individual markup and uses higher markup.
  3. Do not compare + Use price and individual markup = system takes cost with Standard markup and adds individual markup.
  4. Do not compare + Use individual markup from cost = system takes cost with individual markup.

Next comes Discount rule. Enable or disable Use lower discount when conflict occurs option. Enabling it means that system will use lower discount for price counting. After that choose comparison types and their selections. Here are also four available choices:

Comparison types

Selections

Compare discount

Use higher discount

Use lower markup

Do not compare

Use discount from standard price

Use discount from price with discount

  1. Compare discount + Use higher discount = system compare price among Individual markup and Discount and uses highest discount (lower markup).
  2. Compare discount + Use lower discount = system compare price among Individual markup and Discount and uses lower discount (higher markup).
  3. Do not compare + Use discount from standard price = system takes cost with Individual markup and adds discount.
  4. Do not compare + Use discount from price with discount = system takes cost with discount

And the last rule in our example is Individual price rule. There are three choices:

Comparison types

Selections

Do not compare use individual price

-

Compare with individual price

Use lower price

Use higher price

  1. Do not compare use individual price = system don’t compare prices and just takes individual price.
  2. Compare with individual price + Use lower price = system compare price among Discount rule and Individual price rule and uses lowest available price.
  3. Compare with individual price + Use higher price = system compare price among Discount rule and Individual price rule and uses highest available price.
